How to stay motivated at work during the pandemic?
The world of work has changed as we know it. Although working from home used to be seen as a novelty, that has certainly worn off for some people. I don’t think anybody thought working from home 5 days a week, unable to leave our home in lockdowns and constant bad news would become our reality.
However, as they say in adversity is opportunity and I wanted to give my top tips for staying motivated:
Plan your days
Remembering the days of school when timetables and breaks meant you knew exactly how your day looked like - well we can do the same for work! Although most of us need to work 9-5, planning which tasks you do in the morning and which in the afternoon, along with rest breaks allows you to feel productive and measure your success for the day.
Exercise
In line with Orenda’s mission and as I say all the time ‘ feel good, look good and do good’. Exercising is so important (for me it works best first thing in the morning), and will do wonders for your mental wellbeing.
Stay Connected
Staying in touch (virtually for most people) with friends, family, colleagues and even the wider social media community is extremely beneficial right now. We are so lucky that there are so many resources available to us and zoom calls with our network is a god send.
Plan Future projects
There may be some projects that you have been wanting to work on and were looking forward to actioning this year. Although this may not be the best time to do them, you can always plan for the coming months and years- that in itself is motivation.
Friday ‘Virtual’ drinks anyone?
Most of us miss the days of Friday drinks (I know I do) but getting a bit dressed up, making yourself a lovely beverage and hanging out online is a great way to feel like you are still out (sort of) and a great start to winding down for the weekend.
